About Tacoma Diesel & Equipment, Inc.

The team at Tacoma Diesel is dedicated to delivering high-quality, timely work to ensure your diesel generators, diesel industrial engines, and diesel marine engines operate smoothly.

Tacoma Diesel and Equipment, Inc. was founded in 1969 by Jim Porter Sr. after working as a mechanic on Alaska crabbing boats. Jim and his team dedicated themselves to quality, timely service and built a reputation in the commercial fishing industry as a company that would keep fishermen fishing. We expanded our focus and expertise to include diesel generators and other types of diesel engines. Our fully equipped and staffed diesel service shop and parts department serve customers throughout Alaska, Washington, and Sandpoint, Idaho. We airfreight parts and fly our mechanics to the remotest parts of Alaska at a moment’s notice to keep fishermen fishing. Jim has retired, and you’ll find the same dedication to quality and timely work in his son, Mike Porter. Mike and his award-winning team are dedicated to continuing Tacoma Diesel’s outstanding reputation in the industry.
