Now Hiring: Marine Diesel Engine Technician
As a marine diesel technician at Tacoma Diesel & Equipment, Inc. in Tacoma, Washington, you will work with a team of marine diesel engine specialists dedicated to providing excellent service and fostering positive relationships with every customer.
As one of our marine diesel engine technicians, you will work on a wide range of marine diesel engines and related equipment. Your work will include routine service, emergency repair, engine and generator maintenance programs, and more.
You will work on all of the brands for which we are an authorized, full-service dealership: Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel, Kohler, Perkins, and Yanmar diesel marine and industrial engines, generators, and related equipment.
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience
Full Time: 40+ Hours with overtime
Signing Bonus: Upon hire, DOE
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Able to troubleshoot and diagnose diesel industrial engines, including failure analysis
- Able to troubleshoot equipment utilizing test equipment, tools, service manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics
- Strength in diesel engine electronic control systems
- Communicate with customers in a professional manner
- Self-motivated, team player with strong attention to detail
- Work in a safe, proficient manner at all times with minimal supervision
Experience and Qualification Requirements
- Minimum experience: 2 years in the marine engine industry
- Knowledge or ability to learn diesel industrial engine fuel systems and controls
- Able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screening, and random drug tests
- Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Either have or be willing to purchase a US passport for travel
- Must provide your own set of hand tools (including VOM, etc.)
- Great interpersonal, communication, and organization skills, including intermediate or higher computer skills
- Flexibility to travel for overnight or extended periods to complete work
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
